Bence | Kazinczy street

„I am happy that I can work on things like the Kazinczy Living Library. This is the first great product of the Erasmus+ program at the Élő Erzsébetvárosért (For the Living District) Foundation that started last October. I work with three fantastic colleagues of mine, ten volunteers; there is one among them from Bulgaria and one from France, and the living books.”
“What makes it more alive than the traditional library?”
“As you can borrow books to read in the traditional library, here in the Living Library, you can “borrow” people for an honest discussion. The “books” of the Living Library are representatives of groups which face discrimination and prejudices everyday because of their ethnic or religious groups, sexual orientation, health conditions or social status”
“What is the most important objective concerning the Library?”
“I consider treating the social problems with openness very important and to give the best of our knowledge to react to them. In the Living Library, you can have an honest conversation about their stories with somebody from a prejudiced or stigmatized group. We hope that the “reader” will get an experience that widens their view on these groups of people and help them understand and see them more clearly. The subheading of the first occasion is: The Streets of Budapest, homeless people, social workers an ex-drug addict are going to become Living Books and tell you everything you want to know. They know a very different fae of the city, one that you may not believe that exists.”
