“I have lived in the Institute since 1987. I got into a wheelchair when I was twelve; I fell from a tree and I broke my spine. As a child I didn’t understand it. For a few years I thought I would just drive around for a while then everything will change. I realized when I was around 15-16 years old that it was not going to change and I would be in a wheelchair from then on. Many things have improved since then, of course, the equipment is better, there are more lifts in the Institute and there is improvement in the public transport, too.”
“What do you do inside? Are there many common programs?”
“There are some, yes. I like hiking with the others; we have been here in Buda a few times, what I really liked, but we have also been to Martonvásár and Gárdony by train. Gárdony was very beautiful, I think back about it with pleasure. I studied to be a seamstress, by the way and I make thing for friends and the other in here, I can do smaller jobs, hems on clothes, such things. As it is not allowed to smoke inside, I usually come here, I bring a coffee. Now it is especially good. One or two weeks ago it was very cold but now the weather is good again and we can be happy about it.”
