„After finishing the Technical University, so since 1959, or to be more precise: since 1960 I have worked as a ship designer engineer. I was a lead designer at MAHART for more than thirty years.”
„What did you design exactly?”
„Mostly river ships; passenger ships, freight ships. And other units. Of course, I did not do that alone, I worked in a team of twenty people. Our most wide-spread and most successful product was the so called TS-barge. Eight of them helped to fix a bridge in Dunaújváros. These were designed in the 70s, and though they are still in use, they are quite old-fashioned nowadays. Forty years is a long time even for a barge.”
„What are the parameters of a vehicle like this?”
„It is eighty meters long and ten meters wide, its side height is one meter 90 centimetres. It can lift 1600 tons. Eight of these lifted the structure of the bridge that was put together on the riverbank.”
„What are you most proud of?”
„The technique it has made building bridges much quicker. They used them all along the Danube. I am not proud but it is a good feeling that I took part in such an innovation and improvement.”
